Carl W. Röhrig attended the Academy for Graphic Arts in Munich. His works, which most famously include Fantastic Naturalism, have been exhibited at NASA, the Explorers Club, the Museum of Underwater Archeology and he has received awards from the Minister of the Interior of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Museum of Scientific Illustration in New York and the National Geographic Society in Washington DC. His art has been seen on the covers of Der Spiegel, GEO and den Stern.

In his paintings, Röhrig is also essentially concerned with inspiring people to preserve and beautify nature and the earth.

1987: Award for Extraordinary Artistic Performance from the National Geographic Society in Washington DC

1993: Honor for an extensive exhibition by the German Parliamentary Society in Bonn
1997: Award for a Spiegel cover photo by the Art Directors Club  in Frankfurt a. M
